Present: Beryl, Gardenia, Philip, Bernard, Reyna, Tif, Russ, Cory, Kate, Chinhae, Graham, Paul (minutes)
No one for meet and greet.
Minutes approved.
Beryl, steward: We have a new membership coordinator - it's Reyna, who just moved in! We still need someone to sign up for Treasurer.
Cory: Compost got paid. They're a very small company and we had to pay by physical check. Hopefully in the future we'll just pay out the contract (~$700) instead of having to write a check every month.
(Gardenia) major food staples (flour, sugar, rice, potatoes) are STILL not being stored properly, and we are throwing out and having to buy new big bags of them every single week. There has to be a way to stop this from happening, as this is costing us extra money we shouldn't need to be spending every week on staples that should be lasting us a lot longer.
Gardenia: I've heard from others and noticed myself that we're still going through a whole bag of flour every week. Can we have a meeting or plan to fix this? What's a long-term solution?
Bernard, kitchen manager: We have proper storage containers now. I've gone out and purchased appropriate ones. If people aren't using them we're wasting money. I've also talked to the Sunday food pickup folks about not putting fruit on the shelves, and donating it outside if we can't fit them in the fridge.
Clarifying question: Who puts up the flour when it gets here?
Point of information: Nobody in particular. It gets delivered to the front door in bags.
POI: Maybe someone specific should be in charge of that.
POI: People will just leave the bag on the shelf instead of containering it.
POI: I know people talked about having a kitchen meeting. I think that makes sense, to talk about expectations & roles & places to put things. After a meeting like that it might be easier to identify where the problem is. It should happen every so often anyway because we always have some new members.
POI: Maybe we could have a kitchen meeting before the regular Sunday meeting.
Gardenia: I'll send an email about it.
Jared: I'm moving out and want prorated rent & my deposit back.
–
Russ: Any other people having issues with the discuss emails? It's returning as undelivered.
POI: I’ll make sure you're connected to the list.
–
Leah: In 18 days is Halloween and my wedding to Lyssa. We're having a party here! I'll be talking to events. We'll have food.
–
Leah: Co-opportunity Fair is in a week!
–
Frog & Gardenia are setting up an altar space for ancestors.
–
Cory: One of the NASCO properties has been sold - it's in closing. There are two others still being sold but that gives us some breathing room.
