(Steward) Officer reports
Logan, maintenance: We have money, so I’ve been doing some things. The NW and SW stairs are being worked on. Happy with their work so far. We also need to rekey everything soon.
Lyssa, food buyer: Food buyer’s going okay. I am officially stepping down. Quinn is very excited about the job and I’m excited for her.
Bernard, kitchen manager: We had our kitchen meeting today. We’d like to get approval to put a lock on the pantry closet. We also want to suspend cooking for a few weeks or a month and do a deep-dive clean of our kitchen, pantry, storage area. People are still signing off on labor they’re not doing. Quinn & Radish are going to alternate cooking and cleaning, so that’ll help with one night.
POI: It’s hard to deep-clean when the DCU doesn’t clean after cooking and it’s filthy again.
POI: The labor questionnaire will help.
CQ: There’s one fridge under fridge clean and one under DCU clean?
POI: Yeah, the small kitchen fridge is supposed to be done every DCU.
POI: Cooks should be cleaning cooking objects not used to serve the food.
POI: DCU should be coming to the kitchen meetings too. “Cooks use too many dishes” is a kitchen meeting discussion.
POI: There’s a gap between no-shows and membership reviews where we could nag someone for uncooperative behavior like e.g. leaving a mess and not cleaning up the commons.
Joy, labor: I’ve never done this before. I have many thoughts about the labor situation. People don’t do things, people don’t sign off. Many people are not meeting their requirements. We’re not having cooks and cleaning regularly. I want to do reassignments/reassessments. I’d like to a labor workgroup starting in January or even in December.
POI: Our labor descriptions are out of date compared to the ones Stormie changed.
Joy: Associates aren’t doing their labor in general.
CQ: When their contracts end isn’t really well-defined.
Joy: Should I be tracking their no-shows? POI: Yes!
POI: If we were tracking no-shows and tracking automatic reports and behavior contract obligations I think we would deal with some of the labor problems. We know who the people who aren’t doing labor are.
Joy: Yeah, but the labor chart is a mess, and many hours aren’t assigned properly. Many things I want to discuss in the labor workgroup.
Kate, treasurer: I’m doing bookkeeper stuff while Tif’s gone, including the rent. We need to pay the compost people. I’m going to get put on the Frost account.
David: People on the board still need to sign a board resolution about that.
Chinhae, for events: We’re doing secular secret Santa this month. Last-chance submissions deadline tonight! We’ll be opening gifts January 8th, maximum spend $40.
Leah, board: Moving banks has been a big effort, but we’re winding that down. We’ve also been responding to membership reviews at Sasona and here. There’s an appeal planned for this Thursday’s meeting at La Reunion. And weren’t we supposed to elect an NP board rep?
David: Yeah, I got someone at Sasona to bring it up in new business, since it was too late for agenda items. It needs to happen.
Beryl, steward: The notice to vacate was posted soon after the membership review. Nominations are ongoing until the 13th.
(Steward (Kate's item from 2 weeks ago)) direct people on our wait list towards hardy house/santa clara coop.
Kate: They’ve been having trouble filling rooms. Their leases are month-to-month, so it could be a temporary option for folks looking for housing.
Clarifying question: Is this for the MemCo to always suggest to applicants, or should we bring it up in the meetings?
CQ: How are people made aware of Hardy House co-op and their leases?
Kate: We can discuss that. This is something people at Hardy House asked me to do.
Agenda item passes.
(Steward) Discuss Sam's member acceptance
<Discussed in Meet & Greet.>
(Steward) Discuss prorating Tif's rent for December
POI: I think giving her December is fine if she’s going to be out all of December. She’s not able to be in her apartment right now.
CQ: What about after December? Or November?
POI: We know the situation so we can give her December right now.
POI: She was hoping to get her electricity covered while she gets it set up - she’s got some existing debt.
POI: I’m not sure why we would need to do that. That sounds like a standard apartment-switching thing.
POI: The co-op can briefly pay for electricity in a unit, and has before. We can do that as a stopgap if necessary.
POI: Maybe she can get back to us with a more specific request.
CQ: It says prorating, but we’re giving her the whole month?
POI: Yes.
Agenda item passes.
(joy) Reminder to complete labor questionnaire
Joy, labor: Eight people have filled that out. Everyone should fill it out, even officers. I sent out an email. I’ll send out another one.
POI: Philip still has keys, and has still been accessing places he shouldn’t be.
POI: We’ll go and get his other keys.
